Question by Jane Marple: What do they teach in a dog training course base 1?
Is it possible to skip it and go to the next level?
Cause my dog already sit, lay, stay, obeys the re-call, heal, and this with voice or hand command, on leash and off leash.

I really recommend the Dog Training Guide. It’s awsome….and free. They deliver each chapter over 12 weeks (12 chapters in total) and after the 12 weeks they give you advice and tips still. I definatly recommend it, all you do is give them your name and email address. They cover a lot of ground. Check source for link

Question by Sam R: How do you become certified to be a service dog or certified as a service dog in training?

You first need to understand that if your dog is to become a service dog, he/she will become someone else’s dog, not yours. Is that what you want?
Service dogs are generally tested by the organization in charge of whichever group you choose…the visually impaired, the hearing impaired, the mobility impaired, etc. You need to contact them.
The organizing body will test the dog for proper temperament and trainability. If the tests are passed, the dog goes into training – possibly with you but unless you have experience, not likely. Once the dog passes the required tests and probationary period, it will be placed in a home where it is needed. So…you lose your pet. It is a noble cause and if you wish to pursue it, I do wish you the best of luck. Just know that he/she will no longer be yours.
I opted to have one of my dogs tested as a Therapy Dog (he passed with flying colors) and we now (together) visit nursing homes and hospitals to bring cheer to the sick and/or elderly. I could never give up my dog.

Question by May M: Can I take my therepy dog in training out?
I’m training my dog as a therepy dog but it’s not official because I own him and just decided to do this but can I still take him out places like wallmart that allow therepy and service animals? Do I need to get him registered as a therepy dog in training? If so how do I do it?

Best answer:

Answer by ?? Nekkid Bootie ??
no

therapy dogs are NOT allowed in stores and restraunts either.. they are only allowed in places like hospitals and nursing homes.

Only SERVICE animals are allowed in stores and restraunts. Unless you have a disability, and your dog is trained to perform a task that assists you with your disability, your dog is not allowed.

Question by Beaa. (New Account): things to cover in a dog training book?
I’m not sure as of what to do for an introduction?
Also, is there somewhere I could go to find a list of common behavioral problems in dogs? I’ve planned out lots but I’d like to cover as much as I can. Any websites or lists off the top of your head are appreciated, and if you have any suggestions to anything else I should put in it besides how to train/correct problems I’d love to hear them :) thanks!

Are you writing a dog training book?

I recommend either going to the bookstore and buying a few books to go off of, visit your local library, or using google, and reading sources.
