We just brought home a pound rescue and he insists on pottying in the house after he is outside for 20 minutes and needs to go. He sometimes goes out and potties and gets praised to no end and when I turn my back for less then a minute, he will poop and pee where ever he pleases in the house. HELP! I watch him constantly and can catch it but as soon as I turn my back, he makes a mess in the house. The other dog is completely house trained and never potties in the house.

Hi! I own a 15 week old doberman boy. I’ve recently enrolled him in obedience classes, and even though he is obviously the most hyper dog in the class, he is easily the smartest ;]. However, his disobedience that has caused me to enroll him in school in the first place! Biting, barking, ignoring commands, the works! I’ve brought this to the attention of our trainer, who continues to press the method of “cruelty-free” dog training. This basically means that when the dog bites us, we DON’T HIT HIM, but show him that we are hurt and walk away. Dog training along the lines of “Culture Clash” (for all you trainers out there), if you will. My question is: is this the best method? My pup still seems to be agressive, and my trainer has basically said NO to any sort of doberman training that I’ve read about in Dobie books (she says “dogs needing alpha leaders” is false”). Please, knowledgable dog owners/trainers, for an independant breed like the Dobie, what should I do? How should I train him?

First I have a question about crate training. I have closed off an area in my house already for the dog to go potty, eat, play, and sleep. So far my 3 month old pomchi pup has been doing really good with the litter box, in this closed area. My pup can go to the bathroom on his own = D. but if he has access to another room he will go potty there = ( How can I get him to keep going potty in the litter box, without closing him off from other rooms????
Second Question is How can I get my dog to stop jumping on peoples legs, and to stop biting hands?
Thanks!

i have a small dog he is a pomchi. and he’s 5months old i dont want him to use it outside because i stay in a apartment on the 20th floor and it would not be feasible to do that that often know what i mean. so it would be very convient for me to have him trained this way

hmmm.. In the UK I am not sure there is any ‘certified’ Koehler trainers like there is in US, but if you ring arround trainers and enquire they should tell you their method and maybe direct you to a trainer who does use it, I know there is an ex police dog handler in the North East who is now a dog trainer and I am pretty sure he uses the Koehler method or something similar, his details can be found in the Yellow Pages so look in there also.
