Question by John Charles: Crate training puppy while having an adult trained dog not in crate?
Does anyone know if there are special tips for crate training a puppy while already having an adult obedient dog that is not kept in a crate any longer? I’m about to get a puppy who I plan on crate training, but I already have an extremely obedient dog who is left free rein of the house at all times. Will this make things harder?

Nope- My 6yearold Amstaff is completely housetrained- The yorkie I just got is not – It actually helps – Cause he’s learned to go to the door and bark to be let out from her.

Hey, I’m in the process of putting together a website full of free articles regarding dog training. One of my stupid New Year resolutions.

I was going to concentrate on providing tips for people with problem dogs (mainly adults, because people love puppies). The feedback I have from friends is that I should target Puppy training issues ?

So what do I concentrate on – Puppies or Adult Dogs ?

Well I just got a new puppy for Christmas so, speaking from someone who’s been there, I’d have to say people would probably be more intrested in training puppys. It’s easier to try training them when they’re young instead of trying to break bad habits later.

I have an adult dog (4 years old) and a puppy (4 months old).
My adult dog has fear aggression and I am trying to retrain as I do my puppy. The problem is that my two daughters and wife do not always follow the correct reinforcement training techniques as they should to be consistent with what I am doing.
How should I proceed with the training without alienating the family from the dogs and without undoing my training progress?

I recently adopted an adult dog from the animal shelter and she is NOT potty trained. My other two dogs are, and I’ve trained several puppies, but this is the first time I’ve gotten an adult dog that obviously has never been indoors. I’m asking for help, not suggestions to take her to a trainer. I’m trying to do this myself. Thanks
