I don’t know if I count as John Q Public since I’ve dated cops who love doing Sch with their dogs, but I’m not a GSD fan and have not done Sch…
I think it’s a great activity and proves a dog’s worth far better than any dog show with the dogs prancing around in an arena trying to look cute. It has a function and serves a purpose, it makes the dog a better dog, it bonds him with his human, and gives him activities to do that aren’t destructive since GSD’s are too smart for their own good anyway. lol
My mom has a fear of GSD’s since childhood, and was attacked by one as an adult….Her dad took her to a Sch show when she was a kid and it terrified her from the start. Not knowing any different, she thought they were teaching the dogs to be mean and hurt people. (It was a police show.)
I think people who don’t like it probably don’t know what it really is. That it’s about control and training the dog to obey commands no matter what in all kinds of distracting situations.
I’d rather own a dog that’s labelled as a dangerous breed if it’s gotten to SchIII than a ’safe’ breed that’s not trained ANY day of the week.

I planned to go to Triple Crown but you have to go through like three steps to get to the K9 training. I have some experience already, do they count that?? Also this is geared toward after I complete police officer training…
