Check out www.sitmeanssit.com. This is a great network of dog trainers and a fantastic dog training system. If there is a sms trainer in your area just give them a call to set up and appointment for a FREE demo. They will come to your house or meet you somewhere to meet you and your dog and show you what they can do for you. Not alot of trainers can do that and there are very few trainers that can problem solve like these guys. I’ve used this system personally and would have become one of their trainers myself buy someone in my area beat me to it. Check out all their youtube vids as well. They can train any dog. Hope this helps.

http://www.koehlerdogtraining.com

This is a tried and true method that has been used to train hundreds of thousands of dogs over the last 50 years.

Developed decades ago, the method still is the best one out there today.

This is NOT a bunny hugger bribery style of training. It is about teaching a dog it can make choices-right or wrong. This is praise based training and about training your dogs mind not his stomach.

What to expect —
OVERVIEW

The Koehler Method of Dog Training produces a dog capable of performing the following exercises: Heel, Come, Sit, Down, Stand, and Stay, both on & off-leash in about 13 weeks; all exercises conform to American Kennel Club standards. Your dog will perform these exercises willingly, happily, and with uncompromised reliability. More importantly, the method will provide you with an understanding of canine behaviour unclouded by today’s petty insecurities. You will be able to employ this understanding to achieve other training goals. Best of all, you will be able to confidently enjoy the companionship of a well behaved dog.

This is achieved by recognizing your dog as a living, breathing, thinking animal who possesses the God given right of choice. You will learn how to “naturally” influence his behaviour by concentrating on a sequence of essentials. Your dog will learn from this experience, that his own comfort or discomfort, is the consequential result of the choices he makes…naturally.

Question by Lissie: Some good training dog treat recipes for small dogs?
I need some recipes for dog treats, but small ones as I’m using them for training.
I’ve tried kibble, she hates it as a treat. I’ve tried cheese, she doesn’t care for it, I’ve tried regular dog treats she’ll eat them like dog kibble.

Sometimes kibble works, no joke, if they don’t eat for a few hours and you use that, it’s better than actually buying treats for them sometimes! I did that for my dog (points to source)

Question by rcpubtree: Can you tell me some positive experiences you have had with electronic dog training collars?
I know many people don’t like the idea of using electronic shock training collars. But I also know most people don’t know how to train their dogs properly which results in dogs biting people, running away and getting hit by cars. Tell me some positive stories.

Best answer:

Answer by blue_beluga
would you use an electronic child strap so your kid learnt to use the toilet.

do you not think that shocking your dog over and over is, in the end, going to mean something will “shock” you in return?

if you cannot deal with a dog being a dog (because, guess what, that IS what they are), then do not get one.
Do not have a ‘pet’ if you cannot handle their animal nature.
