Question by Jane Marple: What do they teach in a dog training course base 1?
Is it possible to skip it and go to the next level?
Cause my dog already sit, lay, stay, obeys the re-call, heal, and this with voice or hand command, on leash and off leash.

Question by kimscvp101: How do I teach my dog how to do obedient training?
I would like to teach my dog obedient training rather than constantly coaxing him with treats, but don’t know how.

Firstly obedience classes will help you learn this.

A trap a lot of people fall in is the bribery trap. “my dog will only obey when I have a treat”.

Treats should be used as rewards, not bribes. Keep them out of sight until you’re ready to GIVE a great, first of all. Also don’t give a treat every time. Give it say, half the time. The other half, give a ton of petting, a game of fetch, etc.

This will take time, but with patience you’ll see improvement.

Question by LizaChristine: What types of things will the PetSmart dog training teach my dog?
We just adopted a 1-year-old MinPin/Spaniel mix. She’s a great dog, very playful. She doesn’t bite or get agressive with us (which is grrrrreat!). But she was never trained, and still has a lot of “puppy” in her. She jumps up (over and over and over again no matter how many times you tell her “down” or “no”), barks like crazy at anything and everything that moves (even the neighbors that she’s gotten used to), and will pee/poop in the house if we allow her out of her cage for extended periods of time (even if she’s just come in from outside). I’d also like her to walk a bit better on her leash instead of doing her best to pull me around the block. Will an obedience training like PetSmart’s help with these things, or should I be looking at ways to train her myself?

They would teach her to obey you and maybe even some tricks.

My friend has a small terrier that has a habit of pulling when on a leash and trying to go after people and bark at other dogs. She has a pinch collar and it hurts the dog and she yelps when it is used on her. What is a good training aide to help teach her to walk properly on a leash. I suggested a Halti but does anyone have any other suggestions?
