What has worked best for you, and do you think these would work for a dog that is already one years old? Thanks ahead for your input.

Hi, I am looking for a dog that could be trained to go to nursing homes and/or hospitals. What type of dog would be best for this? I dont have a big yard but I could take it on long walks, it would also have to be good with children. And since I dont have a very big yard I dont think a big dog would be best. Does any dog come to mind? Please help?

And being a guard dog does not mean the best. What if we want a friendly dog? So, just asking, what do you think is the best?
